The holidays grow ever closer, and you are probably starting to think of ways that you can make this season one that is more environmentally conscious.  Some experts claim that Americans throw 25% more refuse away during the holiday season, which really adds up.   If you’re trying to limit your own consumption, it might be worth thinking about ways to reduce the amount of waste this Christmas season.    If you limit your consumption, you will probably end up saving money – if you do it wisely.   Just as you can save a lot of money by tracking down business coupon at the office, you can save money by reducing your consumption.

Business software coupons are way to lower the bottom line at the office, and of course, we’re always looking for ways to save money.    You can easily save money at home, by implementing several simple steps to limit your energy consumption.  When you hang your Christmas lights this year, use an automatic timer to run them.  Just run them for 4 – 5 hours, when visibility is most desirable.  Once it gets late, few people will see the lights, so turn them off! You’ll save money on your energy bill, and consume less.   LED Christmas lights are much more earth-friendly and energy conscious, so maybe it is time to replace those old, inefficient lights! 

When you’re buying for someone who lives out-of-town, choose smaller-sized gifts that require less shipping packaging. Consider also gift cards or cash gifts, which require even less packaging.  Instead of foam peanuts or Styrofoam, try using shredded newspaper or other scrap papers you may have lying around. 

Bring your own shopping bag when going to the mall.   So many people bring bags to the grocery store, but forget they can also be brought to the mall.   Or, you could consider using the first bag you get as your only bag, consolidating everything as you go along.  There is no rule that you have to carry items purchased at a store in their plastic bag!

These are just a few of the ideas you can use to “green” up your holiday season!   Try to get creative and think of some more great ideas.
